When Saltmoore Spa Hotel in the picturesque Sandsend embarked on a full-scale refurbishment in 2024, C-Tech Solutions was called in for what seemed like a straightforward task: connecting a few cables. What began as a small request quickly transformed into a major role in revolutionising the hotel’s infrastructure, positioning Saltmoore as a tech-savvy luxury destination for its guests. Here’s the story.

The Challenge: More Than a Few Cables

Initially contacted by the electrical contractor for a minor cabling task, C-Tech Solutions soon discovered during the site visit that this was no ordinary refurbishment. With the hotel undergoing a cross-site transformation, the scope of the project expanded dramatically. What started as a quick cabling job grew into a six-month, £200,000+ mission to design and install cutting-edge technology across the hotel’s extensive grounds.

The entire project was undertaken between construction and property development firms O’Shea Group and Galliard Homes. Saltmoore was the 50th project the companies took on together, and the first hotel in Northern England.

The £100m refurbishment was dynamic, with plans evolving daily. Adapting to these changes required flexibility, expertise, and a proactive approach—qualities that C-Tech Solutions brought in spades.

Category 6 + Fibre Infrastructure

The backbone of the project was the installation of a robust Category 6 infrastructure, ensuring high-speed connectivity across the site.

Fibre optic cabling was installed to interconnect communications cabinets both within buildings and across the site. This ensured seamless communication and ultra-fast data transmission.

IRS Television System

Saltmoore’s guests now enjoy uninterrupted access to TV services, thanks to a bespoke Integrated Reception System (IRS).

Roof-mounted satellite dishes and aerials feed into a full CT100 coax cabling system
Fibre optic cables link buildings, delivering high-quality TV services to bedrooms, bars, communal areas, and even the gym.

State-of-the-Art CCTV System

Security was a top priority, and C-Tech Solutions delivered.

A Hikvision system with approximately 60 cameras was installed, covering both internal and external areas.
The system features PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras for maximum coverage and flexibility.

Audio Entertainment System

To match its luxurious image, Saltmoore now boasts a sophisticated audio system.

A Sonos-controlled, app-based zoned system powers music in the pool, spa, treatment rooms, bars, terraces, gym, and communal areas.
Guests can enjoy crystal-clear sound through 8” flush-mounted ceiling speakers indoors and weatherproof IP44 speakers outdoors.
